A woman cleared of child porn charges in a case involving a pop star considered changing her name because of what happened to her.

Joanne Mjadzelics, of Thorne Road, Doncaster, considered changing her name by deed poll after being cleared by Cardiff Crown Court last month.

The former girlfriend of paedophile rocker Ian Watkins, singer of the Lostprophets, revealed she had looked into the change.

But she has not signed the papers.

She said: “I had the deed poll documents but hadn’t signed them as I’ve been told by a number of people, why should I hide, hold my head high.”

She said what had happened had completely destroyed me because she had not been able to work.

Former bank worker and ex-special constable Ms Mjadzelics said the charges meant people were not interested in giving her a job.

And she faced major expense paying for her accommodation while she was on trial which meant she was now struggling financially.

Now the former escort says she hopes to get involved with helping prostitutes get off the streets and turn their lives around.

She said: “There is nothing in Doncaster. I want to see if there’s a way to get them off drugs and off the streets.”

The prosecution in her trial had alleged Ms Mjadzelics was obsessed with the Lostprophets singer and would do anything to fuel his depraved desires.

But a jury accepted Ms Mjadzelics, aged 39, of Thorne Road, was trying to entrap him by collecting evidence of his sex offending.

After more than 14 hours of deliberations, the jury cleared her of four counts of possessing indecent images of a child, one of inciting Watkins to send her illegal photographs and two of sending pictures to Watkins.

The court heard Ms Mjadzelics embarked on a three-year campaign to try to bring Watkins to justice.

Watkins was handed a 35-year sentence for a string of sexual offences.
