Doncaster model Danielle hoping to make a splash at scuba beauty contest

A beauty queen who has already dipped a toe into the waters of the world of modelling is looking to make an even bigger splash when she takes part in a contest with a difference later this year.

Danielle Hanson, 24, who hails from Skellow, will battle it out with other girls from around the country as she bids to lift the crown of Miss Scuba UK.

As part of participating in the contest, Danielle, a bakery shop assistant manager, is diving in to the contest with enthusiasm - by learning how to scuba dive.

She said: “I am lucky to be able to compete in a very hands on beauty pageant.

“They are also giving me the opportunity to learn to scuba dive which is something I have always wanted to try.

“My first experience in March at a try dive was amazing - I’d highly recommend people to give it a go.”

She is in wth a chance of winning a diving holiday in Cyprus and a chance to compete as Miss Scuba UK 2015 at the international finals in November.

As well as preparing for the contest, she also doing her bit for good causes.

She said: “I volunteer for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service as a community first responder, working closely within the ambulance service on life saving calls. It is very rewarding.

“And now competing in Miss Scuba UK I would like to work with the Marine Conservation Society, the UK charity for the protection of our seas and wildlife. I will be helping out with beach clean ups around the UK, because litter is putting our beautiful sea and also land creatures in danger.

She is also raising money for Deptherapy, which runs specially adapted scuba diving programmes for seriously injured UK armed service personnel.
