A CHARITY open day held to celebrate a Toll Bar firm’s 50th anniversary in business raised £3,500 for St John’s Hospice, Doncaster.

The fundraising event, which attracted hundreds of visitors, was held by Optima International Ltd.

The family-run firm chose the hospice as its charity of the year in memory of the colleagues, families and friends of the company who have been cared for by St John’s and to recognise the work of all of its dedicated staff.

And the fundraising doesn’t stop there.

Company secretary Adel Yarnell-Spence, who presented the cheque on behalf of Optima, said: “We are planning another fundraiser for July, 27, 2012, and hope it will be bigger and better than the last one.”
