A BALBY nursery which has been running for three decades has been given a welcome £1,700 boost by ward councillors.

Springsteps Nursery is run by volunteers who currently look after 19 children aged between two and four.

Balby councillors Andrew Bosmans, Mick Jameson and Mark Thompson provided the one-off allowance to help with the cost of moving and re-establishing the charity at its new site at Woodfield Primary School.

Springsteps manager Denise Harle said: “We are very grateful for this help which has helped us stay open through a difficult time.”

Coun Bosmans added: “Springsteps provides an important service to local parents in Balby and we were delighted to be able to provide assistance by using some of our flexible budget.”
