CONISBROUGH

THE Sheffield Blitz is the subject of a talk hosted by the Conisbrough and Denaby Main Heritage Group. The talk, by Suzanne Bingham, is at the Ivanhoe Centre tonight, at 7.15pm. Admission £1.50 members, £2 visitors.

A MEDIUMSHIP night is taking place for charity tonight at 7pm at Cromwells. The medium will be Carl Parker. Next week (June 23) the medium will be Paul Barker. The mediumship group also raised £50 for Macmillan Nurses at a charity supper. For additional information, contact Christine on 01709 895530.

A SUMMER fayre is taking place on Saturday morning at St Peter’s Church from 10am. The church will also be open over the weekend for visitors interested in the church’s history as part of the annual Heritage Inspired event.

RAWMARSH

BEANFEST, an all day Rock/Metal/Indie music festival, has been organised by local musicians who lost their best friend Rob ‘Bean’ Crook in January last year aged just 23. The event, at the Star Inn, Rawmarsh Hill, is free entry, but there will be bucket collections to raise money for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. The event is on July 2 and runs from midday to midnight, featuring many of South Yorkshire’s up and coming bands – and a few national surprises.

RAWMARSH Library runs IT classes for the computer-shy on Mondays at 10am and Thursdays at 5pm. Rhyme Time takes place at 11am on Fridays and is free to kids under five years. A readers’ group meets on a monthly basis – contact the library for details.

BUMPS and Babes’ Group meets Tuesdays from 1.30-3pm at Rawmarsh Children’s Centre, for parents to be and parents with children up to a year old.

MEXBOROUGH

AVA Lunch Community Cafe is open at Mexborough Baptish Church on Wednesdays from noon to 1.30pm.

A COFFEE morning is held at the Congregational Church every Saturday morning from 9.30-11.30am. The church room is available for hire, call Kathleen on 01709 322003.

A RE-ENACTMENT Group meets at Bank Street Methodist Church on Wednesday at 7.30pm. South Yorkshire Musical Comedy Society meets on Tuesday and Friday at 7pm. The Beavers Club meets on Tuesday at 5.30pm, Cubs on Wednesday at 5.45pm and Scouts on Thursday at 7.45pm. Girls’ Brigade meets on Thursdays at 6pm. Coffee morning on Saturday from 10am to noon. The parent and toddler group meets on Tuesday and Thursday from 9.30-11am.
