The annual Party in the Park will take place at The Flower Park, opposite the market, on Saturday, May 21. Attractions include the crowning of the May Queen, a dog show, fairground rides, stalls and food. Event runs from 10am to dusk.

Recycle your old bicycles by donating them the the Craganour TARA’s award-winning Recycle Cycle project. Jim Tierney, of the TARA, is collecting bikes to rebuild and give to disadvantaged children, including children in the Third World.

SWINTON

A charity coffee morning at St Margaret’s Parish Church raised £404 for the Alzheimers Society and Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. There will be a children’s workshop today, Thursday, at 10am and Good Friday at 10am, followed by the Liturgy at 2pm. The Easter Vigil will be held on Holy Saturday at 8pm.

A PASSOVER meal will be hosted at St John’s Methodist Church tonight, Thursday, from 7pm. Coffee morning and book corner will be held on Saturday from 10am to noon. Open house on Saturday from 10am to 3pm. Youth group for 11 to 18-year-olds meets on Sunday from 8-9pm. Book corner on Wednesday from 10am to noon.

RAWMARSH

RAWMARSH man Anthony Lound, 45, and his brother-in-law Kevin Mundy are to attempt a sponsored Lyke Wake Walk in July, in support of the Royal Dragoons. To sponsor Anthony – the grandfather of fallen soldier James Leverett’s baby son James – access the Just Giving website, enter the ‘sponsor a friend’ section and click on Anthony’s name.

A KIDS’ Club session takes place today (April 21) from 1-4pm at Rosehill Park.

BANDS who want to get in on the action at upcoming Rawmarsh festivals should reserve their place now at the Star pub. This year’s Beanfest, staged annually in memory of Rawmarsh man Rob Crook (Bean) who lost his life in a car crash, takes place on July 2.
