A surprise Diamond Wedding celebration awaited Derek and Marg Mole when they attended Wroot Chapel Lunch last Thursday.
Word had got out that the important anniversary of their wedding was March 31 and they had also received a card from Her Royal Highness the Queen.
Derek and Marg were married in Walsall in 1952 but it was only in 1987, and for family reasons, that they relocated to this area.
By 1989 they had bought a plot of land in Wroot and built their own bungalow.
Marg was very keen to let it be known that, and in her own words: “Wroot has been very good to us.”
As they are both faithful members of Wroot Methodist Chapel it was appropriate that the actual date of their anniversary was very close to the first of the monthly chapel lunches in Wroot to be organised for the “Summer Months” in 2012.
Rev David Leese offered words of congratulations before they cut their specially decorated cake, were toasted with non-alcoholic wine and presented with a beautiful basket of flowers.
The chapel lunches organised in the newly refurbished village hall are organised on the last Thursday of every month through until November.
