A plaque marking the birthplace of Robert Glassby, sculptor to Queen Victoria, has been placed on the gable end of the wall of the former house off Church Street, Mexborough.

Swinton historian Giles Brearley and Michael Piper, a descendent of Glassby, were at the unveiling. Mr Piper has written a book and dedicated a website to his ancestor’s achievements.
