The men were on trial for murder but after two weeks guilty pleas for manslaughter were entered, which the prosecution have accepted.

The court heard that police were called to an address in Jubilee Road, Wheatley, on September 14, where paramedics were treating 26-year-old Adam for serious and unexplained injuries.

Adam suffered blunt trauma to his head (a basal subarachnoid haemorrhage) during a sustained physical attack.

He was taken to hospital where he later died.

Doncaster murder victim Adam wasn’t a burglar, court hears

Detective Inspector Sean Bird, deputy senior investigating officer, said: “Questions about what happened to Adam that day have not been answered, as none of those accused have offered any explanation prior to admitting their guilt, which will weigh heavy on Adam’s family for the rest of their lives.

“They have spent the past seven months wondering what happened to their son, partner, brother and father.

“I hope the guilty pleas entered today offer them some small degree of comfort and that today’s proceedings allow them to begin the painful process of moving forward with their lives.”

As part of the investigation into Adam’s death, police carried out extensive enquiries in the local community and issued several media appeals for information.

Over the months that followed, 16 people were arrested on suspicion of murder.

After further enquiries, police charged Halabura, Wegorzewski, Palinski, Owczarczyk and Gurski with murder.

DI Bird continued: “This investigation was particularly complex as the majority of our enquiries were carried out within the Polish-speaking community.

“The officers on this case dedicated months of their time to finding those responsible and bringing them before the courts and this commitment and tenacity should be recognised today.”

Dariusz Bogusz, 32, also pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice.

The six men have been remanded into custody to be sentenced later this month.
