This video shows the dramatic moment police officers arrested a motorist, following a car chase on Greens Way, Mexborough.

Eye-witness Peter Baldwin, 46, owner of Pete’s DIY stall at Mexborough market, said: “I’ve been told that the police had been chasing this fellow for hitting other cars for about two hours.

“I heard sirens at about 11am, I ignored it at first but then they were getting louder and louder. When I turned round they were dragging him out of the car and pinning him down. Then he was taken away in one of the cars.

“There were nine police cars here at one point, but it’s all clear now.”

The video shows three police cars surrounding a red car and it appears three police officers are holding the man to the floor.

One of the officers then runs to the side of the dual carriageway to speak to two women.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “The vehicle failed to stop on Maple Road, Mexborough, at around 11am when officers requested it did so.

“That resulted in a short police pursuit which ended on Greens Way, Mexborough, at 11.05am.

“A 26-year-old man has been arrested.”
