A ‘beautiful, lovely girl’ has been stabbed to death in an attack which has left a Doncaster community in shock.

Gabrielle Stanley, 28, was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend, Simon Hall, at their Scawsby home on Friday evening.

The body of Mr Hall, a mechanic, was also found at the address.

Police were called to a ‘disturbance’ at the property on Stanley Road at about 10.10pm, where they found Ms Stanley with multiple stab injuries. She was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary where she tragically later died.

A neighbour who was woken up by sirens and flashing lights said: “I looked out of the window. I saw the front door open and they fetched someone out. Two ambulance men came out and they went in the ambulance - the person was on a stretcher or in a wheelchair.”

Another neighbour said: “I heard them arguing early on, maybe about 7 or 8pm. I didn’t hear anything after that. They’re not neighbours you get to know - I didn’t know anything had happened until the lady across the road rang to let me know.

“They’ve lived there for two years. They weren’t really neighbourly - they kept themselves to themselves. It’s a quiet street and the neighbours don’t really have a lot to do with one another.”

Neighbours said Mr Hall had been hospitalised a week before the incident. One said: “The week before (this happened) he’d been taken to hospital - we think he’d had too much to drink. Whether he’d tried to kill himself, I don’t know.

“(Gabrielle) had left him about a fortnight ago but she kept going backwards and forward - I think he was trying to get her back.

“He was a bit of a muscle man - he looked like he went to the gym. He was really nice looking.

“We all keep ourselves to ourselves around here but he was a lovely lad - he was going to fix my mirror on my car for me because he’s a mechanic.”

Forensic investigators were examining the house on Saturday morning and the pavements had been washed.

Facebook friends paid tribute to Ms Stanley, calling her a ‘beautiful, lovely girl’. It is thought the pair had been an item for a number of years before their recent break-up.

More than half a dozen police cars attended the murder scene along with a first responder and ambulance.

Post mortems were due to take place yesterday.

A police spokesman said: “Detectives are currently not looking for anyone further in connection with these deaths.

“Anyone that witnessed a disturbance in the area that evening or with any information that could assist officers is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 1349 of October 25. Alternatively, people can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
