A South Yorkshire supermarket has been robbed by a man wielding a ‘small axe’.

Police have today launched an appeal for witnesses to the armed robbery, which took place on December 3.

Officers were called at around 8.20pm that evening to a supermarket in Thorogate, Rawmarsh, after a man entered the store with what is believed to be a small axe.

He threatened staff before making off with money.

Enquiries are ongoing and officers would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
