A SUPERCHARGED mobility scooter has been seized as part of a police and council crackdown.

Enforcement officers working for Doncaster Council stopped the speedy scooter after it was spotted racing around at speeds of up to 60mph, scaring animals and annoying residents.

Over the last three months 40 motorbikes and other off road vehicles worth a total of £45,000 have been seized as part of the campaign.

Councillor Cynthia Ransome cabinet member for communities said: “This type of noisy vehicle annoys residents immensely and terrifies local wildlife and walkers. We don’t want to stop people having fun but when they build machines like this they should be used at licensed tracks and not in areas where they annoy others.”
