A FORMER Mexborough nightclub boss who subjected two women to horrific rape ordeals has had an Appeal Court challenge to his convictions rejected.

Michael Bierton, 41, of Rockingham Road, Rawmarsh, who formerly ran Henry’s bar and the Empress Rooms club in Mexborough, subjected his victims to prolonged and humiliating sex attacks.

Bierton was convicted of eight rape charges after a two-week trial, and jailed for 18 years at Sheffield Crown Court in 2005.

But on the basis of fresh video evidence, he asked London’s Criminal Appeal Court for permission to appeal against his convictions.

The court heard that his sister had unearthed new video footage, that was said to cast doubt on the accounts given by the two women of their abuse.

But his bid was quashed by top judges who said: “We are quite satisfied the convictions can not be challenged.”
