A 79-year-old woman has been threatened with a hammer and knocked to the ground in her Doncaster home, during an alleged attempted robbery.
The robbery is believed to have taken place at 2.20pm yesterday afternoon, when an attempted robbery is alleged to have taken place at a property in Sprotbrough Road, Sprotbrough. Police believe that the woman heard a knock on the back door and as she went to open it, she was knocked to the ground by an unknown man.
It is then alleged that he threatened the woman with a hammer, before demanding money and jewellery.
He then left empty handed, in the direction of Tennyson Avenue, Sprotbrough.
The 79-year-old woman was uninjured during the incident.
Police are appealing for anyone who saw a man behaving suspiciously in the area at that time to contact them.
The man is described as white, in his thirties of skinny build.
He is thought to have very short hair, possibly bald, and was wearing a navy jacket and grey trousers and was carrying a hammer.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident number 540 of February 16.
