BURGLARS, thieves and car criminals were all targeted during a police crackdown.
Operation Maximise saw officers carry out patrols across several of the borough’s crime hotspots.
Police arrested 20 people in Doncaster including eight for burglary, five for theft and one for drugs. Several stolen items such as laptops, watches and rolls of cable were also seized.
They also committed a day of action across Armthorpe and Edlington using observation vehicles and trap cars to combat vehicle crime.
South Yorkshire Police has been using its Twitter account - @syptweet - and Facebook page to provide crime prevention advice for residents during the Christmas break.
Supt Martin Hemingway, who co-ordinated Operation Maximise, said: “The operation targeted known thieves using search and arrest warrants.
“Thorough checks were also carried out at second-hand goods outlets and within the scrap metal trade.”
