A domestic incident outside a Doncaster town centre bar has been referred to South Yorkshire Police’s professional standards department.
A 26-year-old woman allegedly assaulted a police officer outside the Urban bar on Cleveland Street on Sunday afternoon and during her subsequent arrest sustained a small laceration just above her left eye and a blackened left eye as a result of being restrained.
Police also arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of affray.
The woman was arrested on suspicion of assault of an officer and she was taken to hospital, but her injuries are not thought to be serious.
The officer sustained minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment. The incident has been referred to the Force’s Professional Standards Department.
