Police officers who helped rid the streets of Rotherham of a cache of guns, weapons and ammunition have been praised for their efforts.

Those involved in Operation Clearview, which landed three men behind bars for a total of 17 and a half years, were among 15 from Rotherham singled out for Chief Superintendent Commendations for their efforts.

Police and Crime Commissioner Dr Alan Billings met the officers at an award ceremony at Rotherham’s Main Street police station.

He said: “I realise that all officers and staff in Rotherham work hard, but it is good to recognise those who have stood out in some way and for them to receive recognition.”
