A mugger has struck 16 times since the start of the year on a few Sheffield streets.

Detectives are investigating the series of thefts and robberies in the Firth Park area.

Investigating Officer Detective Constable Philip Dean said: “There have been nine reports of theft and seven of robbery since the beginning of the year, all of which have been reported on or near Sicey Avenue, Bellhouse Road and Hatfield House Lane.

“The victims are always female, aged between 50 and 90-years-old and they have had property stolen from them as they walked along the street.

“The suspect is described as male, aged between 14 and 20-years-old. We have several leads to pursue and I would ask people to be vigilant. If you have any concerns call the police on 101 or in an emergency call 999.”
