A MAN has appeared in court following a brutal assault that left a neighbour with severe head injuries.

Police charged 26-year-old Ashley Styring from St James’ Street, Hyde Park, with grievous bodily harm with intent following the incident. Styring appeared at Doncaster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday and was remanded in custody to appear at Doncaster Crown Court at a later date.

The 26-year-old man was found with severe head injuries at his home in St James’ Street and was taken to hospital.

The victim’s condition was described as serious by a police spokesman at the time of going to press.

Another man arrested in connection with the incident has been released on police bail, a police spokesman said.

The incident happened on January 5.

Police were unable to release anymore details about the attack.
