Get off your bike or face fine

CYCLISTS illegally riding through pedestrian areas in Doncaster are being warned they could face a fine as part of a police crackdown.

Cyclists riding through pedestrian only areas could receive a £30 fixed penalty notice.

A police spokesman said officers had been out and about in Doncaster warning cyclists of the rules in a bid to stamp out the problem.

But John Glarvey, 58, who was warned about the fines whilst riding near Clock Corner said: “It’s a joke, what are we supposed to do when there aren’t enough proper cycle lanes in Doncaster, they’ve started letting buses and taxi’s use them and now people are saying cars should use them too.”
