A man collided with a house last night as he tried to escape from two drunk people who were trying to get in his car.

Firefighters, police and ambulance were called to the scene, on Nelson Street, Chesterfield, at around 11pm yesterday.

A spokesman from Staveley fire station said: “The man who was driving the car was coliided with a parked car, then bounced off that and hit the wall of a house, causing structural damage to the front door.

“He said he had been trying to escape from two drunk people who were trying to get in his car.

“He was not injured, his female passenger had a few cuts and bruises and was treated at the scene by paramedics. We believe she wasn’t wearing a seatbelt because there was a mark on the windscreen where she had hit her head. We secured the door and left at around 1.30am.”
