Police investigating reports of a man claiming to be collecting money for a bereaved family are wanting to speak anyone who believes they have been approached by him.
The man has told people his brother is taking part in a sponsored bungee jump at a pub in Edenthorpe to raise money to repair a child’s gravestone.
Several residents have handed over cash in good faith, after being shown legitimate looking sponsorship forms, but the landlord at the pub has no knowledge of the event.
The landlord has received calls from people in the Kirk Sandall and Askern areas of Doncaster enquiring about the jump which prompted him to raise concerns with police.
The man is described as white, of medium build, about 5ft 9ins tall and was reported as wearing a dark green jacket, dark hat and was riding a bike.
Anyone who believes they have also been approached by him, or can help police identify the man, is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting crime reference number A/5349/14.Police
