Masked men have robbed an elderly Doncaster couple of jewellery in their own home in broad daylight.

The 71-year-old man and 72-year-old woman were in their living room in Hyde Park when they were confronted by the suspects who snatched necklaces and a bracelet before fleeing.

A police spokesman said the couple sustained minor injuries and were left ‘incredibly shaken’.

Two gold necklaces and a man’s gold bracelet, which all have great sentimental value, were taken in the robbery which happened at about 4.30pm last Friday 23 at a property in South Street.

Officers are urging anyone who saw two men acting suspiciously in the area to call police immediately. They also want to hear from anyone who may have been offered the items for sale.

Both suspects were wearing dark clothing, balaclavas and woollen gloves. One of the men was about 6ft tall, well built and muscular, while the other was 5ft 8ins tall and also well built.

Officers believe they ran off in the direction of White Rose Way.

Witnesses, or anyone with information, is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 865 of August 23, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
