A man who committed vile sex offences while working as a mobile greengrocer in Doncaster has been jailed for more than 10 years.
Alan Willis, of Alverley Lane, Balby, was sentenced to 10 years and six months at Sheffield Crown Court for offences against two girls in the 1970s.
The 62-year-old was convicted of two indecent assaults on a seven-year-old girl, three counts of indecency with a child and 10 indecent assaults on a nine-year-old girl.
He was also convicted of the rape of the nine-year-old girl in 1972 when she had reached the age of 11.
The offences took place during the school summer holidays of 1970 at a farm where he worked on Alverley Lane, which has since been demolished, and during his rounds working on a mobile fruit and vegetable van in the summer of 1972.
The offences were reported to South Yorkshire Police in September 2012.
Investigating officer, Det Con Sharon Row said: “These were horrific crimes on two innocent young girls who were robbed of their childhood and had to endure years of emotional turmoil.
“I hope that now Alan Willis has been jailed, his victims can gain some sort of closure and begin to get on with their lives.”
