Ever wanted to ask police and staff from councils about anything to do with alcohol? Then this is your chance.
From 3-4pm on Monday, December 16, South Yorkshire Police and staff from councils in Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham or Sheffield will be offering advice via Twitter, to anyone who has any queries about the laws surrounding alcohol or learn about agencies that can help people.
Drink-related antisocial behaviour tends to increase over the festive period across the county, which is why South Yorkshire Police has launched their ‘Start thinking, reduce your drinking’ Christmas campaign to discourage irresponsible drinking.
Superintendent and Force lead on alcohol for South Yorkshire Police Shaun Morley said: “Across the county we see extra pressure on public services over the holiday period, often due to incidents involving alcohol.
“We know that the laws surrounding alcohol can be misinterpreted and we want to quash any myths that the public may have heard and explain the powers available to combat alcohol abuse.
“Using Twitter we hope we’ll also be able to signpost people on the health aspects of alcohol and what groups there are available to anyone affected by alcohol.”
The online session will run on the Force’s district accounts @SYPBarnsley @SYPDoncaster @SYPRotherham and @SYPSheffield using #tweetsafe
