BREAKING NEWS: Taxi death man officially named

THIS is the man who died in an incident involving a taxi in Doncaster town centre.

Police have this afternoon named the victim as Robert Ross Dowling, of Carcroft. It comes as officers revealed a number of people fell out of the moving vehicle.

The 27-year-old, known as Tin Tin died from a head injury he suffered in the incident near the A19 St George’s Bridge at 2.10am on Wednesday.

Five people - three men and two women - arrested in connection with the death have been released on bail pending further inquiries. The taxi driver was one of those arrested, officers said.

The incident caused major traffic disruption for motorists after police closed St George’s Bridge,

The taxi, a black Mercedes Vito was travelling out of the town centre when the incident happened.
