A MAN has taken on and beaten Doncaster Council in a row over sheds.

Kenneth Unwin has won an appeal against the authority’s planning department after it ordered him to remove the structures from land in Kirton Lane, Thorne.

Mr Unwin has been using the sheds to provide shelter for animals he keeps at the site, bordering open fields.

Doncaster Council issued the order because its officers ruled they were harmful to the character of the area, after a complaint.

A Government inspector has overthrown the order after a site visit.

He said: “I conclude no harm arises to the character and appearance of the open countryside.”
