A Dearne bar and restaurant has been named as one of the top 50 seafood eateries in the country.
Kenny’s Fish and Chips in Conisbrough was named in a list of the best chip shop and seafood restaurants in a survey by Fry magazine.
The industry publication sent a mystery shopper to 500 restaurants in the UK before compiling their top 50.
The restaurant received a 100 per cent score in eight out of ten categories, with judges praising the standard of food, value for money and service.
Owner Kenny Blow, 56, said: “We were delighted when we found out we were in the top ten per cent of all the restaurants they visited.
“They had cod and chips, haddock and chips and battered sausage and chips. They described the fish as perfectly moist. We got an overall score of 95 per cent, which was amazing.
He added: “They had our most popular dishes, and it was nice to hear such high praise.
“We have a certificate, which we have proudly displayed up in the restaurant.”
This latest success comes after Kenny’s was listed as one of Waitrose Food magazine’s top 32 fish and chip shops in the UK.
Reece Head, competition organiser, said: “We were overwhelmed with the number of shops that entered our ‘50 Best Fish & Chip Shops’ this year and it just goes to show the level of passion, enthusiasm and commitment there is out there to be the best of the best.
“We announce our results at a time when fish and chips is enjoying a hive of media activity and this helps put the spotlight on those shops that really are pulling out all the stops to ensure customers get the best quality food, in comfortable surroundings, served by pleasant and knowledgeable staff.”
Kenny’s serves a wide range of fish dishes and deserts, along with a selection of beers, wines and ciders. Visit kennysfishandchips.co.uk
