Conductor’s recital tour

the NEW conductor of Doncaster Choral Society goes on tour next month to raise much-needed money for the choir’s Millennium Fund, which supports a number of their most prestigious concerts.

Dr Simon Lindley, one of Britain’s foremost organ recitalists, will be presenting concerts of popular music on the first four Tuesday evenings in August and each contains a famous toccata – hence the series title Toccata Tuesdays.

The first is at St Mary Magdalene Church, Campsall, on August 2.

“A sponsor has generously provided a modest donation to each church in order that the Choral Society may benefit to the maximum from the proceeds of the retiring collections on each occasion,” said Simon, who takes up his post in September.
