HOMES in Doncaster have been given an upgrade to make their broadband faster.

Adwick-le-Street is the latest community in the borough to have the speedy service installed by BT engineers.

The upgrade means residents can receive download rates of up to 20 megabits per second - more than double the speed previously available from BT.

Adwick-le-Street is part of the 40-strong group of South Yorkshire communities to get the ‘super fast’ broadband installation with Armthorpe and Thorne included in that list.

John Anderson, BT’s regional director for Yorkshire and the Humber, said: “The technology is changing for the better the way we live and work, helping businesses work more efficiently and flexibly and find new markets.”

Phone giant BT aim to bring even faster speeds to around two-thirds of UK by the end of 2014.
