Doncaster College has received a gold award for its learning resource centres.
The Council for Learning Resources in Colleges has judged the centres as ‘outstanding’ in a recent assessment visit to its Hub campus in Doncaster and High Melton’s University Centre.
The scheme itself has been running for 15 years, however the assessment criteria has just changed with Doncaster College agreeing to pilot the new intensive and rigorous accreditation format.
Some of the aspects examined during the visit included leadership, management of resources and quality assurance.
One of the main strengths identified was the ‘outstanding level of expertise and enthusiasm’ of the staff of both centres.
Lorraine Maddock, manager of the learning resource centres, said: “I am delighted with the outcome of the assessment. It was a very rigorous process and teaching staff and students who took part in the meetings were extremely supportive. The staff are a very enthusiastic and highly motivated team.
“I am proud of the way in which the service works well with all areas of the curriculum.”
