Doncaster’s civic leaders were this week sending their own congratulatory messages to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on behalf of the borough’s residents.

The civic mayor, and the borough’s MPs, have all passed their best wishes to the royal couple over the birth of their baby.

Civic Mayor, Coun Eddie Dobbs, said: “On behalf of the people of Doncaster I would like to congratulate the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their son. This is wonderful news and a moment of happiness for people both in our borough and around the world.”

Doncaster North MP Ed Miliband said: “I am absolutely delighted by the news of a healthy royal baby boy. Many congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. I wish them and their son happiness and good health.”

Doncaster Central MP Rosie Winterton said: “I would like to add my congratulations to the happy couple on the safe arrival of their first child. I’m sure the whole of Doncaster will be delighted. I hope the royal couple enjoy their new role as parents and I wish them well for the future.”
