Church would appreciate £100

Specialist conservationists have completed the investigative stage of a new programme of work that needs to be completed at St Mary’s Church, Tickhill.

The survey has confirmed the need for urgent work on the lower level masonry of the church and preservation work required on the medieval and Victorian stained glass.

Work is also needed to restore some of the monuments inside the church, on the tower, and elsewhere on the external walls.

The total cost of the work is about £195,000, some funded by English Heritage and the Heritage Lottery Appeal, with St Mary’s having to raise around £70,000.

Anyone donating £100 to the appeal will become a Guardian of St Mary’s and will be issued with a Certificate of Appreciation.
