As our pictures show this week Kilnhurst St Thomas’ Church really is a thriving hub of the community.

The lunch club is held on a Wednesday and has become a place where young and old can meet, have a bite to eat and enjoy each other’s company. The lunch club runs from noon-1.30pm.

The afternoon is organised by Amanda Brewerton, wife of vicar Rev Andy Brewerton.

Amanda told the Times: “The lunch club started off as an activity for the older folk in the community but it has morphed into a real mix of people. Some of the younger mums and dads will bring their babies and children from St Thomas’ School help to serve the food.”

There is a mums and tots group every Tuesday 1.30-3pm; the church holds a Friday games club 1.30-3pm and every third Sunday of the month after services finish at 4pm, the church holds a picnic tea for families, with a band for entertainment.
