streets in a Doncaster village were sealed off after a mystery liquid was found leaking from a drum.

The area round the five gallon drum, lying on the pavement in Allenby Crescent, Rossington, was cordoned off for three hours while South Yorkshire firefighters wearing breathing apparatus investigated it.

Police were also called and closed the roads from Aberconway Crescent to Gattison Lane, and Allenby Crescent to Grange Lane.

After three hours it was established the dark coloured liquid was used engine oil which had been dumped, and the cordon was lifted.

Doncaster Council emergency response workers were also sent out to clean it up and the roads were re-opened just after midnight.
