Ceremony for brave airmen

Veterans of the Royal Air Force were joined at Robin Hood Airport by Air Cadets and other services personnel to commemorate the 71st anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

A Brew for the Few tea, held in No 3 hangar at the former RAF Finningley, was followed by a sunset ceremony outside the hangar, involving over 100 staff and cadets from the Doncaster area and veterans with their standards.

Parade commander, Sqn Ldr Mike Wadsworth said: “It is important that we remember the bravery and sacrifice not only of ‘The Few’, but all servicemen and women in conflicts past and present. I’m delighted so many people turned out.”
