John Torode and Gregg Wallace will once again be putting celebrity contestants - and their taste-buds - through the wringer this week to see who can hack the heat and who will crack under the pressure as the new series of Celebrity Masterchef gets underway.

Who’s taking part?

The 20 celebrities hoping to follow in the footsteps of last year’s champion Kimberly Wyatt are: US entertainment legend Jimmy Osmond; singer/songwriters Simon Webbe and Amelle Berrabah; priest and former popstar Richard Coles; actor Sid Owen; actresses Tina Malone and Laila Morse; actress and style editor Donna Air; singer and actress Sinitta; actor and presenter Alexis Conran; TV presenter and author Cherry Healey; TV presenter and journalist Louise Minchin; TV personality Amy Childs; former England rugby player and world cup winner Neil Back; Olympic gold medal winning boxer Audley Harrison; Paralympian Liz Johnson; comedian of famous double act Cannon & Ball Tommy Cannon; YouTube vlogger Marcus Butler; antiques expert David Harper and dancer and choreographer Gleb Savchenko.

What’s in the mystery box?

This series will see 12 programmes air over six weeks. The first four weeks concentrate on whittling down the celebrities; testing their abilities until only the best go through to the semi-finals.

The first, 60-minute episode of each heat week sees five new celebrities face the infamous Mystery Box Test before being thrown straight in at the deep end - heading to a professional restaurant kitchen and preparing dishes for paying customers.

The heats will also see contestants prepare two-course meals in the Masterchef kitchen for John and Gregg, take part in the ‘relay invention test’, feed hordes of hungry people in the mass catering challenge and cooking dinner for a panel of past Celebrity Masterchef winners and finalists.

..and then it’s on to the semis!

Who will feature this week?

The first contestants to appear will be comedian Tommy Cannon, TV presenter and actor Donna Air, TV hustler Alexis Conran, vlogger Marcus Butler and actor and singer Sinitta.

Celebrity MasterChef is on Wednesday at 8pm on BBC One.
