CBE honour for top businessman

A LEADING businessman who developed a house building firm in Mexborough has been awarded a CBE in the New Year’s Honours list for his services to charity.

Terry Bramall is regarded as one of the country’s most generous philanthropists after making a fortune as a building tycoon.

Mr Bramall, who now lives in Harrogate, developed Bramall Construction in Mexborough - which grew into the Keepmoat company with partner Dick Watson. He and his wife placed more than £96 million into the Liz and Terry Bramall Foundation in 2008 and it has been making grants of around £2 million a year to organisations.
