Cast’s line up continues to go from strength to strength, and this week Doncaster’s newest performance venue will see performances from folk star Kate Rusby (pictured) and Pop Idol runner up Gareth Gates, among others.

Hailing from Barnsley, Kate Rusby is one of the few folk singers to have been nominated for a Mercury Music prize and will perform at Cast’s studio theatre tomorrow for one night only.

Kate’s unique interpretations of folk standards, combined with her soulful and melodic self penned songs have helped her to reach an audience which surpasses the folk genre.

The singer-songwriter celebrated 20 years in the music business last year, and will perform with the cream of British folk musicans that include among their number Damien O’Kane on guitar, tenor guitar and banjo,

Duncan Lyall on double bass and Aaron Jones on guitar and bouzouki.

Wednesday sees the first performance of Bradford-born Gareth Gates at Cast, who appears as part of the venues Home Grown series of events.

Gareth has sold a whopping 3.5 million records in the UK alone following coming second in Pop Idol in 2002.

Since then Gareth has appered in ITV’s Dancing on Ice, numerous musicals including Boogie Nights and Les Miserables as well as festivals and shows up and down the country.

People attending the gig can expect to hear a selection of Gareth’s new material, as well as a collection of old songs and material for the pop and theatre world.

Gareth will perform at the auditorium at 7.30pm and tickets for Gareth’s performance cost £16.50 for concessions, and £18.50 full price.

Kate’s performance starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £19 for adults and £15 for under 16s.
