POLICE investigating a suspicious flat fire in which a man’s body was found have named the victim.

Andrew Massarella, 40, was found dead after his home in the Callender Court block of flats in Middleham Road, Cantley, went up in flames.

Fire crews were called to the property off Goodison Boulevard at about 3.20am on Christmas Eve and had to force entry into the flat.

His dog Kane, also perished in the fire.

An investigation has been launched by the fire service and police. Officers said there were treating the blaze as “suspicious”.
