AN Olympian and a Pride in Doncaster award-winner will switch on this year’s town centre Christmas lights.

The popular event, headed by Doncaster Council, will see the festive fun kick-off at Clock Corner with guests including Doncaster Rovers, Doncaster Rock Choir and stars of this year’s Civic pantomime Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.

Taking centre stage alongside mayor Peter Davies to switch on the lights will be tae kwon do Olympian Sarah Stevenson and Mexborough’s Kidz Du Care group - a team of tireless young people which raises money for charities and were a winner at this year’s Pride in Doncaster awards, supported by the Free Press and council.

The event will take place on November 15, at 4pm.

Mr Davies said: “With a host of vibrant entertainment planned for families and children, I hope everyone of all ages will enjoy the show.”
