A group set up to boost business in the Isle is facing the axe unless more new members join.
The Isle Business CIC was formed several years ago to help businesses swap ideas and support each other through monthly networking sessions.
But the latest meeting had to be cancelled due to lack of numbers and organisers have warned the group could go out of existence unless more traders join.
Tori Oldridge, 37, of Doncaster-based Bounce PR, which set up the group, said: “Unfortunately due to poor numbers in registration for the October networking meeting, we have decided to cancel the event for this month.
“Isle Business CIC was set up in the interests of businesses within the Isle of Axholme and surrounding areas, to help build a network of professionals and business owners, and to pass work through one another.
“As a non-profit organisation, the aim was to help start up businesses, and to keep business within the Isle flourishing, and to showcase the expertise that is available in the area.”
She added: “Without the support of local businesses, Isle Business CIC can not survive.
“We volunteer our services each month, and also run the CIC behind the scenes for the benefit of regional businesses.
“We all have great business networks, but if the support is not there for Isle Business CIC then we will have to close.
“We hope to run a meeting next month, but this entirely depends on numbers.”
The group’s website currently lists 13 businesses as members.
They hope to hold a meeting on Wednesday, November 13, but need a minimum of 20 people to register for it to go ahead.
Events are free of charge to Isle Business CIC members, and £10 for non-members.
Membership is £80 per year for Isle businesses, and £100 for non-Isle businesses.
