AN electrical and plumbing supplier is hoping that going green will lead to new jobs.
Alongside its traditional product lines for trade and domestic customers, Amco is branching out into the specialist area of green renewables including thermal panels and biomass boilers.
Amco sales director Gareth Beard expects the development to create new positions within a year as demand for energy-saving products continues to grow.
“The market is definitely there but the Government has been slow to act,” commented Gareth. “But with incentives like the Green Deal, there will be significant savings to be made particularly for businesses.”
And Gareth is confident that going green is definitely the way forward. Pointing to recent rises in gas and electricity costs, he said: “At the end of last year, the take up of solar panels in Doncaster was higher than anywhere else in the UK. The new incentives mean people will get a much better return on their investment,” he added.
Amco, which employs five staff at its Doncaster base on Highfield Road, has already set up a new office to deal with the renewables side of the business and products are now available.
The company also offers free advice about its products to the general public and can put customers in touch with reliable professionals experienced in installations including renewables.
