Specialist in line for top title

A SPECIALIST shop is hoping it will be third time lucky to scoop a national accolade.

Reaching the national finals of the Beta Business Awards for the third year running, Iron Horse Equestrian Supplies will find out if its won the Retailer of the Year Award at a gala dinner later this month.

The Moss-based business was founded in 2004 and is run by mother and daughter Jean Waterworth and Vanessa Townsend. Employing a staff of seven, the shop stocks leading brands of equestrian equipment, clothing and feed and expanded into shooting clothing and last year.

“We’re absolutely delighted to have again reached the finals of such a prestigious award, particularly as we were nominated by our customers,” said Jean.

“In the best traditions of a specialist retailer, we always endeavour to offer a personal yet professional service with competitive pricing – and it’s satisfying to know that our efforts have been rewarded.”

As part of the final judging, Iron Horse’s trade suppliers have been asked to add their votes to those of customers. Beta is also conducting a series of incognito mystery shops and telephone calls to the shortlisted candidates.

Beta’s executive director Claire Williams commented: “There were more than 4,000 nominations for the BETA/SEIB Retailer of the Year Award so many congratulations go to Iron Horse Saddlery and their team for reaching the finals,”

The results of the competition will be revealed on February 19.
