ONE of the Isle’s newest businesses - Axholme Brewing Company - has celebrated its arrival on the local real ale scene with a launch party.

The River Don Tavern in Eastoft held the celebrations which was attended by a wide range of pub regulars, Isle residents and local Campaign for Real Ale branch members.

Head brewer Mike Richards said: “This was a great way to announce ourselves to beer drinkers in the area and let them know they can now be enjoying truly local brews.

“The night has gone fantastically well and it has been great to talk to everyone and exchange ideas. Gordon and Karen at the River Don Tavern have been a huge help both in hosting our launch party and supporting us and our beers.”

Axholme Brewing Company was formed in April by husband and wife team Mike and Jules Richards and production started in early July.

Since then they have made eight different beers so far, with fresh and exciting brews being produced every week.

Mike added: “We are a small brewery but that lets us really play with a huge range of styles.

“I’m interested in innovating and coming up with interesting new flavours in beer but I also strongly believe many of our classic beer styles are things to be savoured and promoted.

“That’s why our beers have ranged from an elderflower beer, to a cask conditioned lager and to a traditional best bitter,” Mike said.

The brewery plant is situated in Bottesford but Mike and Jules are based in Luddington.

The couple are keen to promote their beers within the Isle as well as around North Lincolnshire and beyond.

Plans to start producing bottled beer are nearing fruition and new local outlets are being found each week.
