Sheffield’s designated Retail Development Quarter is attracting renewed interest from the business community and a number of firms have pledged to move into vacant office space in the area.
Property agents Knight Frank has recently let 6000 sq ft of space at Concept House, located within the St Mary’s Gate Business District and adjacent to the rapidly developing The Moor shopping centre.
One of the UK’s fastest growing teacher recruitment companies, Vision for Education, has let 3,000 sq ft on the first floor, while Sheffield Carers, a charity dedicated to helping the city’s carers, have taken 3,000 sq ft on the ground floor.
This followed a refurbishment of all common areas at the seven-storey building and leaves just 7,000 sq ft of space to let. This latest deal also comes after Knight Frank’s recent sale of 80,000 sq ft of offices at nearby Milton House.
Ben White, partner at Knight Frank, said: “We are seeing renewed interest in offices close to the earmarked Retail Development Quarter following a period of uncertainty over the development and now that outline plans have been submitted. This is underpinned by work to rejuvenate The Moor which is well underway. The refurbishment of Concept House has created very desirable space.”
Sheffield City Council submitted an outline planning application for the £480m Retail Development Quarter in August, which is set to include offices, homes and restaurants and could create about 2,500 jobs.
It replaces the £400m Sevenstone retail development scheme, that was scrapped in 2013.
