STORES in Doncaster’s biggest shopping centre are set to hand some Christmas cheer to the town with the creation of 120 festive jobs.

The Frenchgate Centre, home to around 120 of the country’s biggest High Street names, will be taking on special seasonal staff over the coming weeks.

Bosses are expecting thousands of shoppers to flock into the town centre as people step up their Christmas preparations.

Around 1200 staff are already employed at the mall. The centre said there is usually a ten per cent increase of staff in the run-up to the festive period.

Amanda Phillips, centre manager of the Frenchgate, believes the creation of the seasonal jobs will be great news for the whole town.

She said: ‘It is a fantastic time of year to know the Frenchgate is helping to create jobs so we can all enjoy Christmas shopping.

“Obviously the demand for gifts soars in the weeks running up to Christmas.

“Increased numbers of staff to offer advice, and keep the tills ringing, mean our great range of shops can supply many exciting gifts.

“The festive period attracts thousands of customers bringing money into the borough’s economy and boosting employment.”

Employment figures in the town have also been boosted recently with the opening of a new Disney store in the Frenchgate.
