It’s full steam ahead for LEP

THE proposed route for high speed rail services - due to create masses of jobs - has been welcomed by a business body representing the area.

James Newman, chairman of the Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership, said the decision to include a high speed rail station in the region recognised its strategic economic importance to future UK growth plans.

Mr Newman had previously written to the national press making the case for high speed rail and local links.

The final location of the region’s station is still to be decided and construction will not start for several years.
