Isle motorists advised M180 road improvement scheme works have been rescheduled due to a poor weather forecast

THE Highways Agency road improvement works on the M180 which cuts through the Isle due to start this week will now take place later this month due to poor weather conditions being forecast.
Resurfacing, road markings and road studs work will take place overnight on a 6mile (10km) section of the east and westbound carriageways between Junction 1 and 3 near the River Torne.
There will be various overnight carriageway and slip road closures between 28 June and 6 July. The closures will take place on weeknights between 8pm and 6am and during the closures clearly signed diversion routes will be in place.
In addition to the weeknight closures, the M180 Junction 2 eastbound entry and exit slip road will be closed from 8pm on Friday 29 June until 6am on Wednesday 4 July.
During this closure, drivers wishing to exit the eastbound M180 at Junction 2 should continue on the M180 and take the M181 north to Frodingham Grange roundabout. At the roundabout take the forth exit onto the southbound M181 and then join the M180 westbound. Driver can exit the M180 at Junction 2 westbound exit slip road to join the A161.
Drivers wishing to join the eastbound M180 at Junction 2 should continue north along the A161 for approximately one mile. At the roundabout, take the forth exit onto A18 and proceed along this road for approximately six miles to Frodingham Grange roundabout. At the roundabout take the third exit onto southbound M181 and then join the M180 westbound. At Junction 2, exit the motorway and rejoin M180 eastbound.
Highways Agency project manager, Steven Wright, said: “This work is necessary to replace the worn out surface as part of our routine maintenance to ensure road users can continue to enjoy safe, smooth and reliable journeys.
“During the works we advise road users to plan their journeys to avoid delays. Safety is our top priority and for the safety of road users and roadworkers we encourage all drivers to drive carefully past the works and along the diversion routes, keeping within the speed limit, and concentrating on the road ahead.”
